Welcome to the New Year at LMFA!

Hope Christmas was a good one for you and that the New Year is a great one - yes, I know it seems like ages ago already, but the thought is there!

2012 Shoot Calendar
Please click here to go to the the calendar for 2012. There may be some additions along the way, but these shoots are scheduled so please put them in your diary.

Sanctioned Shoot
Once again, we will be staging a 3D AAA Sanctioned shoot in May, but this time it will be held on our grounds. This means we have a lot of work to get done around the grounds, including not only cutting in five new ranges, but we need to complete the shower block.

The difference in the grounds from 12 months ago is remarkable. It just looks so good. The new/rebuilt shower block is coming along well, thanks to the dedication and hard work of Al Park, ably assisted by Noel and other members. This is an essential part of the infrastructure we must have in place for the May Sanctioned shoot.

No Interclub Shoot this year
You will note that there is no Interclub shoot in the 2012 Calendar. We have been involved with this 3-way shoot with Cessnock and Lake Glenbawn some years now. The decision not to make the shoot part of our Calendar this year was made at the Committee meeting on 8 January, 2012.

During last year it became clear that it is of no financial benefit to LMFA. In fact an analysis of the costs and income associated with the shoot indicates that we're barely covering costs. It is also fair to say that the level of support it was receiving was dwindling.

We believe other activities we have planned will generate more funds and support for the Club.

Working Bee - Sunday 29 January 2012
To get things underway for the May shoot, we will be holding quite a few Working bees.

The first for the New Year will be on Sunday 29 January, commencing at 9 am - or earlier if possible, before it starts getting too hot.

Visitors to the Range
Visitors are always welcome to any of our shoots - indeed if there is someone you know who may be interested in archery, bring them along at any time.

However it is important to note that it is not appropriate to invite non-members to practice on our ranges. Members are always welcome to go and practice on the ranges, however if someone else wishes to use our targets and grounds, it is only reasonable that they become a member.

Gate locking procedures.
I know this is 'old news', however just a reminder that if you do use the club grounds out of 'regular' shoots, please make sure you lock the "chain" gate closest to Archery Road. You may leave the 'inner' gate unlocked until you depart, but it is imperative that the outer gate is locked.

As part of our Occupancy Permission agreement, we are responsible for keeping the grounds clean and we know how much rubbish has been dumped over the years. With tip fees rising, dumping is getting worse.

Membership Renewal.
As membership renewals are due in February, we have a Membership renewal form so click here. Please run it off, fill it in and bring it with you for the Feb 5 Shoot.

Please make sure you complete the 3D AAA membership details.

Fees are unchanged from 2011.

Hope to see you at LOTS of shoots this year. We need member support to make things really happen in 2012.

Look forward to seeing you at the next Working Bee.

Cheers
Steve
